At Teens Together in Recovery, our mission is to empower and support teens nationwide through a dedicated recovery program designed just for them. We understand the unique challenges young people face with substance abuse and have created a special curriculum that adapts the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) to fit their needs. Our program includes key elements like peer support, personal responsibility, service work, and healthy emotional expression, offering a relatable and effective path to recovery.
Currently, there are no recovery support groups specifically for teens throughout many communities in the U.S. often forcing them to attend AA or NA meetings with adults, which can feel disconnected and unrelatable. Our program fills this gap by creating a supportive environment where teens can connect, share their experiences, and grow together.
Research shows that peer support is crucial in recovery. By providing a recovery group specifically for teens, led by a licensed therapist, we offer a safe space for young individuals to navigate their recovery with the right guidance and understanding.
We also aim to de-stigmatize the label of "addict" or "alcoholic." At Teens Together in Recovery, we believe in addressing substance abuse without labels that carry negative connotations. We focus on the individual's strengths, potential, and journey towards recovery, fostering a supportive and non-judgmental environment.
Our program serves as a model, similar to AA and NA, that can expand to in-person meetings across communities throughout the U.S. and beyond, helping to build a healthier and more resilient generation of teens nationwide.
Teens Together in Recovery is committed to making a lasting impact on teens' lives, helping them overcome substance abuse and build a foundation for a brighter future!
Hi, I’m Amy Murray, a Licensed Associate Therapist and teen advocate. Helping parents support their teens in achieving emotional wellness and recovery from substance abuse is my passion and calling. With years of experience working with young individuals, I am dedicated to providing the support and guidance they need to thrive.
Having lived with and lost several loved ones to substance abuse, I am deeply committed to helping young people in recovery. I combine my passion for supporting teens with my dedication to substance abuse recovery, aiming to fill the gap in resources available for teens. My goal is to create a supportive and effective recovery environment tailored to teens, adapting the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA). My program integrates essential elements such as peer support, personal responsibility, service work, and healthy emotional expression, offering a relatable and effective recovery pathway.
I bring a wealth of knowledge and a unique skill set to my teen recovery support group services. Holding a Master of Social Work and associate licensure in both clinical social work and substance use disorder in Washington State, I possess a strong background in child and teen therapy. With a deep understanding of the emotional and psychological challenges that children and teens face, I am fully prepared to support your teen’s recovery journey.
While I have the expertise of a licensed therapist, in this program, I act strictly as a group facilitator, a coach, and a youth mentor, not a therapist. My approach is designed to empower you and your child, providing practical strategies and compassionate support to foster emotional resilience and well-being.
The same applies to my 1:1 parent support sessions. In these sessions, I act as a parenting coach, not a therapist. My goal is to provide guidance, support, and practical strategies, but these services do not constitute therapy.
Take the first step towards a brighter future for your teen. Together, we can navigate the recovery journey and build a foundation for lasting sobriety, emotional health and resilience!
We’re here to support you every step of the way. Whether you have questions about our program or need support, don’t hesitate to reach out!
